Healthy Chicken Dopiaza: Recipe#1

Wednesday, January 30, 2013
Hello Lovelies!

Today I thought I would do something a little different, and spice things up a little (excuse the pun). My mum is a member of Slimming World, and I've always eaten pretty much the same meals as her, so I tend to have the healthier version of everything for my evening meal. This year though I have decided to try harder for my breakfast and lunches aswel, without momma's help.

Whilst my mum went on holiday, I cracked out one of our many Slimming World recipe books and found a recipe for a lovely curry 'Chicken Dopiaza'. Myself & Aaron went shopping and picked up all the ingredients we needed. Me & Aaron love to cook, as much as we love a good ol' takeaway, we also love experimenting with recipes and cooking from fresh. Gordon Ramsey & Marco Pierre White, eat your hearts out!

We love going to our local indian restaurant, but with it, most likely, being extremely unhealthy we decided to make our own.

  • 2 skinless chicken breasts.
  • 1 onion.
  • 1/2 tin of chopped tomatoes.
  • Tbsp Medium Curry Powder.
  • Tbsp Garam Masala.
  • Tbsp Cumin.
  • Pinch of Salt & Pepper.
  • Any Rice (We used Pilau).
We sprayed a frying pan with Fry Light, which if you are on Slimming World, Is only 1 Syn Each. For those of you who aren't, a spray of Fry Light is about 1 calorie. We used 2 sprays to cook ours. Alot better than using oil though, right??

Start by dicing your onion & Chicken. You can add peppers or any other vegetables which takes your fancy. We cut the chicken into quite small bite sized pieces. We like a generous amount of meat in our curries :)

Put all your herbs and spices into the pan and fry for about 30 seconds. We found that the curry lacked a-bit of a kick, so would recommend adding bigger quantities of the spices.

After 30 or so seconds, Add the chopped tomatoes and onion.

Add your chicken and cook until white throughout. The herbs and spices are smelling LOVELY by now! YUM.

We bought a pack of Uncle Ben's Pilau Rice and just popped it into the microwave. Cheating I know..

Voila! I was quite impressed with our curry and wasn't bad for a first attempt. A much healthier option to a curry take-away/restaurant.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and i'm sure to add more healthy or not so healthy ;) recipes in the future.

Soap & Glory Fragrant Body Sprays

Sunday, January 27, 2013

I am a HUGE Soap & Glory fan, as I'm sure everyone else in the whole world is!!! They are amazing products, that don't break the bank. What more could you ask for??

Their brand contains a variety of skincare and makeup. I don't actually own any of their makeup (none of my local boots stock anything other than the lip plumping lip gloss) but I have owned pretty much everything else they do. Bubble bath, shower gels, body creams, body scrubs and body sprays. They always smells amazing and the names of the products are really clever & totes cute. Yes I did just say totes & what!!

I received these fragrance sprays in a set for Christmas, off my grandma. The two scents are 'Mist You Madly: A Flirty Floral Fragrant Body Spray' & 'Glam-A-Lot: Soft & Sexy Fragrant Body Spray'

They are only 100ml and are perfect for putting into your bag and using on the go.
I am currently using 'Glam-a-Lot' and I love it. It does exactly as it says on the bottle and provides you with a subtle, what can only be described as, sexy smell. It reminds me of my Victoria Secret perfume & well all know how sexy Victoria Secret is?! Miranda Kerr you yummy mummy, you!

I only tend to use these products when I'm at work, or when on the go, as I save my perfume for nights/evenings out. They leave a really fresh smell, that lasts for a good few hours.

January GlossyBox.

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Hello!  I joined GlossyBox in September/October and although they have been pretty hit and miss, I can't
seem to find the heart to cancel my subscription, as I know as soon as cancel, they'll bring out an amazing box. Just my luck.

To welcome in 2013, the aim of the box was 'Detox' after a Christmas & New Year of stuffing our faces and drinking to our hearts content, what better way to celebrate the new year than a good ol' detox.

1. ElEMIS FRESH SKIN: Skin Glow Facial Exfoliator; Sample Size.
"Developed by Elemis to accompany you from your teens to mid-twenties, the Freshskin range aims to nurture skin and help prevent premature ageing. With a deep pore cleansing action, this exfoliating facial wash combines cherry powder and jojoba beads to gently polish away dead skin cells and refine skin texture. Enriched with mandarin and aniseed your skin will appear brighter and more radiant and left feeling soft and smooth".

Full Size: 100ml//£12

2. DUCK ISLAND LIMITED: Body Lotion; Sample.

"Stimulating the senses while capturing the aromas of the East (a fragrant combination of mandarin and bergamot), this indulgent body lotion will help you relax, while simultaneously stimulating your senses. For centuries, Eastern cultures have recognised the benefits of natural extracts- a tradition embodied by Duck Island's paraben- and mineral oil free formulations".

Full Size: 2 x 250ml//£24.95

3. JASON: Lips Bee Healthier; Full Size.

"The Jason brand name means 'healer' in Greek. The results-driven therapeutic blends of their formulas and wholesome, natural ingredients reflect this, which is why we just had to include a Jason product in our detox box. Alongside the under-eye skin, the skin on our lips shows signs of dehydration fastest. This is due to the fact that the lips only have thin surface layers of skin, which dry out faster than other areas and are exposed to dry, cold air outdoors and low humidity indoors. To prevent parched and cracked lips, this rich, natural lip balm stick combines moisture-trapping Beeswaz, Vitamin E, and green tea extract, Organic Aloe Vera Gel helps heal, soothe and prevent chapped lips, while Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil moisturise".

Full Size: 4.6g//£1.99

4. MONU: Aromatic Mask; Sample.

"Another GLOSSYBOX detox favourite! This warming facial mask helps increase vitamin and mineral absorption, instantly renewing and invigorating your skin. Natural clay provides a deep cleanse, while stimulating and renewing cell health. Beeswax and coconut oil soften, nourish and hydrate the skin, leaving it looking boosted and radiant.

Full Size: 100ml//£24.95

5. PREMAE SKINCARE: Balance Rescue Face Tonique; Sample.

"A refreshing face toner for combination skin, this mattifies and rejuvenates congested skin. With antiseptic lemongrass and sandalwood oil as well as hydrating rose water, this alcohol-free, fragrance free solution will cut through dirt and excess oil to close pores without stripping skin of its natural oils, leaving skin feeling fresh and plump".

Full Size: 50ml//£27.50

As a little bonus, you received a GlossyBox eye mask. Which I thought would be perfect for my 101/2 hour flight to Mexico, in June.

I love how this box is all about detoxing and refreshing the skin. Which mine definitely needs during the winter months.

Milk_Shake: Conditioning Whipped Cream

Friday, January 25, 2013

Hello Lovelies! Sorry it has been so long since my last post. BAD BLOGGER! I have been working a lot of extra hours, and just haven't found time to sit and write my posts. So instead I have been filling my blogging notebook up, with ideas of what I want to post about! This is my first day off since my last post, So I thought what better way to spend this cold January day. than a day of blogging. Onesie & hot vimto in tow :)

I received this little beauty in my December Glossy Box & it is amazing! I use this every time I wash my hair and will be devastated when it runs out. Although I am sure I will purchase it. did good!

I apply one pump of this to the palm of my hand and rub it into my hair (avoiding the roots). I use the excess to concentrate on the ends of my hair, rubbing and twisting it in.

This product has left my hair feeling really glossy and easy to manage. The milk proteins improve the hair structure and gives long lasting hydration. My hair looks extremely healthy after using this, leaving it with a lovely shine. It doesn't weigh my hair down and gives it a lovely bounce.

It also smells exactly like whipped cream, DELICIOUS!

So far I am very impressed with this product, and it is available on feelunique for £12.55. With free delivery, I think this is a complete bargain and definitely worth it!

If any of you have tried this, or any other Milk_Shake products, I'd love to hear about it.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Hello! I am, without a doubt, a shower person. When people tell me that their going to go home from work, take a long hot bath and read a book with candles and a sounds like my worse nightmare! Don't get me wrong, when i'm feeling low or just want a major pamper, I run a lovely bath, using one of my Lush bath bombs and light a candle or two and end up getting out after about 20-30 minutes. I'm more of a jump in the shower girl, do what I need to do, get out, get dry and chill out!

I get in the shower with my hair shoved up in some wacky top knot and give my body a good scrubbin'.
I absolutely love the Soap & Glory PULP FRICTION; I've had this product for a few months now and use it once a week, to give myself a good exfoliate. It leaves my skin feeling really smooth and soft. It also smells amazing, which is a huge bonus.

I then apply whichever shower gel i'm using to a body puff, at the minute i'm using LUSH: Snow Fairy Shower Gel; This product comes out especially for Christmas and I buy it every year. It smells so good, like pear drops and candy floss. What more could you want from a shower gel?! If i've been to the gym or working out at home/for a walk I use my Original Source Lemon Shower Gel; which helps me feel really clean and fresh after a sticky/sweaty work out (Sexy huh?..) It also gives me a little pick me up as it smells like lemon sherbets! I am a sucker for anything with a citrusy smell.

I use TRESemme 24 Hour Body Shampoo; & TRESemme 24 Hour Body Conditioner; to give my hair a really good boost and clean. It leaves my hair feeling really soft and they don't weigh my hair down. I massage the shampoo into my roots and just squeeze the excess through the rest of my hair. I then apply the conditioner half way down my hair and comb it through the ends of my hair. I leave this on for about 3-5 minutes, and as soon as I start to wash it out I can already feel how soft it has made my hair. The bottles are HUGE and little product goes a hell of a long way.

I'd love to hear your guys 'go-to shower products'

Lotsa Love.

Mini Haul; Primark.Next Home. The Body Shop.

Sunday, January 13, 2013

I nipped into Primark with Aaron, a few days ago, just for a browse. Found some right bloody bargains! Primark has really upped their game over the past year and i've found some great things. You can go into Primark, and see a top for £6, and go into River Island and see a similar top for £20!

I picked up some cotton pads, as I seem to go through them really quickly, and £1 for 160 cotton pads. Can't go wrong really can you?! NOPE.

Aaron actually picked up the sheer black top, and showed it to me, I was very impressed. Not only with my boys good taste for once, but at the top in general! It has a lovely peter pan collar, with jaguars heads on the tips! Amazing. It is very sheer, so I will wear it with a black vest top underneath. £7

I then came across this peplum top, it's made of a cotton/stretchy material. I do already own a black peplum top from River Island, but the back of the top is cut away, so I think it's more dressy. Where as this little beauty from primark, can be teamed with jeans and my converse..if I so wish! It's more on the casual side & I am a sucker for casual.
They had it in black/white/nude. I don't really buy anything white, as I'm to pale to rock the white look and end up looking like a milk bottle. LOVELY. The nude colour was just..ICK. No go.
You can never go wrong with black. £4

My bankcard weeps everytime I go through the doors of 'Next Home'. If I could, the majority of my wage would be spent there! I'm like a child at a sweet shop, running round touching everything, making 'OHH' & 'AHH' noises. I still live at home, but when me & Aaron do take the plunge into the big wide scary world, and move out. Our whole house will be from Next! Best start saving now, as it aint cheap! I decorated my room at the beginning of last year, and I'm still applying the finishing touches.

I picked up this butterfly ornament as it is just to damn cute! I also have the heart version of this which says 'You are my happy ending' which I picked up a few months ago. Aww aint it sweet?! I thought they would be nice to hang in mine & Aaron's bedroom, when we get our own place. £3

I have decided that the wall that is opposite my bed, I want to create it into a photo frame collage. Placing all different photo frames next to each other/below each other. Thought it would be pretty funky, as I'm quite sentimental when it comes to keeping photographs. So to start off my 'collage wall' I picked up this lovely grey, slightly blue photo frame. It has the effect of scratches and marks on it, which I thinks makes it even nicer. All I need now, is to print a picture off my i-phone. I'm thinking maybe one of me & Aaron in London. £8

In one of my magazines this month, it came with a gift card for Body Shop. It had a surprise amount on it, and you had to go in store to reveal how much. I never really go in Body Shop, as I think it is quite over priced. I went in, knowing it wouldn't be a lot. I was right, I received the staggering amount of £3!
I already had my eye on the lip product, as soon as I walked into the store. I originally wanted the Mango version, but they didn't have in stock. Damn. So I opted for Pink Grapefruit instead, and my god, I want to lick it! It smells AMAZING. I don't actually own any lip balms, only vaseline or lip gloss. So I went to straight to the till, with this little gem. It leaves my lips with a lovely shine, not glossy or tacky, and my lips feel nourished and moisturised. Not bad for the £1, I had to put to. £4

What's On My Bedside Table?

Friday, January 11, 2013

'You're So Special' plaque.Kindle.'Love Letters Of Great Men'.'The Hobbit'

Lush Lip Scrub.Vaseline.Oyster Cards.Soap & Glory Hand Food.

Glamour Magazine. Next 'Just Pink' Candle.

Hey Guys! Going to sleep has never been my strong point. Bedtime is when I tend to lie in bed over-thinking silly things, that don't really need to be thought about. My brain has other ideas, apparently. I praise the people who can turn their laptop, televisions and phones off before going to bed! I however spend my last hour before I go to sleep, catching up on youtube videos and blogs.

I always have my kindle to hand, whether it be on my bedside table or in my bag when I am out and about. Although before I go to sleep, I read one 'letter' out of my 'Love Letters Of Great Men' book, my mum got me this for Christmas and I look forward to sitting in bed before I go sleep, and reading the letters. I'm such a romantic and this book is perfect!

I bought the 'Hobbit' book, as we are going to watch it in the cinemas soon, and I always like to read the book, before I watch the film. I've started reading it and i'm enjoying it so far! I still don't understand how this book can be made into 3 films, but hey ho! Is it just me, or does anyone else always prefer the books to the film?! Except maybe the Twilight Saga, I love the films!!

Whilst getting ready to go to sleep, I use my Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, to help keep my lips silky smooth, and slather my lips in vaseline. When I wake up, my lips are so soft! I also apply some hand cream, as my hands get really dry during winter, and my favourite hand cream to use is the 'Soap & Glory Hand Food'. It was Aaron's birthday in November, and I surprised him with a short break to London. London at Christmas time is amazing, and I was gutted when we had to come home. I have a scrapbook full of places I have traveled to, but our Oyster Travel Cards, we used for the underground, have a place on my bedside table.

I buy 'Glamour' magazine, every month & actually have a collection of them, holding my perfume bottles on my dressing table. It is definitely my favourite magazine and I love this cover as Emma Stone is AH-MA-ZING! :) #GirlCrushAlert.

I always burn my favourite candle (at the moment) on my bedside table, and recently it has been Next 'Just Pink'. I have the perfume of this, and as soon as my mum pointed out that they had a candle to match..I knew I had to have it!

I hope you enjoyed taking a little sneak peak at what is on my bedside table, what's on yours?

Hello Lovelies!
Whilst looking through my past posts, I realised that i've never really told you guys much about my skin care routine, and what products I use. I love reading these kinds of posts on other blogs, so thought I would give it a bash at doing one of my own.
I love my current skin care routine and plan on keeping it like this for a while. Although, knowing me and my ridiculous shopping habits, I'll have a whole new routine in a few weeks, using all the new purchases i'll have made. Oops. I have recently ordered the Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm off feelunique, and can't wait to try it!
Enough rambling anyway, let's get onto the actual point of this post..
Firstly, (if my hair isn't already) I put all my hair up into a messy bun on top of my head, and use a wide fabric alice band to keep the front of my hair, out of my face. I HATE getting my hair wet whilst doing my skin care, strange I know, but I don't like it clinging to my face and eugh. anyway..
I then soak two cotton pads in Bioderma; and use the first to wipe over my eyes and remove any traces of makeup (if I have any on that day), I then use the second pad to wipe all over my face and neck.
Pumping two lots of  Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish; into my hands, I then gently massage it into my face and neck. I do this for a few minutes (I find it really relaxing), before polishing it off using a muslin cloth that has been ran under hand-hot water. I then splash my face using cold water, just to give my skin that little extra boost! I dab my skin dry, using a hand towel.
Using my LUSH Tea Tree Toner Water; I spritz a cotton pad, with a generous amount of product, and then wipe it all over my face and neck. Concentrating on any problem areas. It leaves my skin feeling and looking very fresh.
I use one of my fingers to get a dollop of Nivea Vasage Pure & Natural Moisturising Cream; and apply it over my face, neck and sometimes onto my chest. I don't really have a favourite moisturiser and just buy whatever I feel like/whatever is on offer. But the Nivea moisturiser is really hydrating and fresh.
If i'm unfortunate enough to have any nasty red evil spots on my face, or ones about to rear it's hideous head. I apply a squeeze full of my Origins Super Spot Remover; to a cotton bud and dab it onto the spot/spots (if i'm really unlucky!) It makes the area feel really tight and it dries abit crusty. When I wake up in the morning the spot has shrunk in size and is no where near as red as it was the night before. It clears up any spots really well and as you only need a small amount, the product will last for an age! When it does run out however, I will definitely be picking it up again!

Top. 3. Cleansers

Thursday, January 03, 2013

Hey Guys! Cleansing is a massive part of my skincare routine, as i'm sure it is for many of you. I have tried and tested many cleansers the past few years, but in the last 12 months, I have found some little gems. I thought I would tell you guys my top 3 cleansers, and why I love them so much.
I picked up my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish; from Boots in Manchester, when it was the triple points weekend (always a bonus!). I had heard so many great things about this product, that as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to snap it up. I used it as soon as I got home, and it was love at first sight. It smells amazing and fresh, and leaves my skin feeling so soft and hydrated. It contains Rosemary, Chamomile, Cocoa butter and Eucalyptus essential oil. It is suitable for all skin types, which I think is fab. It is great for removing the last few traces of maekup aswel.
I clean my face, getting rid of any makeup and everyday gunkiness, with my Bioderma and then use 2 pumps of my Liz Earle. I massage this into my face and neck, very gently, before soaking a muslin cloth or regular face cloth, in hand-hot water. I then slowly polish the cleanser off using soft circular motions.
I hadn't heard many things about the Soap & Glory:Peaches and Clean; but the name just drew me in, again, whilst I was in Boots. I was browsing the Soap & Glory section (as per usual) and spotted this 4-in-1 Deep Cleansing Milk. As soon as I saw the name 'Peaches & Clean', I knew I had to have it. It literally smells like peaches! I thought it was going to be one of those products that says it smells of something amazing..but really doesn't. Well, this is not one of those products, my friends! It smells like a lovely fresh, juicy peach. NOM. It, again, is suitable for all skin types, which is always a bonus. It contains Peach extract, Guillaja Bark (a gentle, natural 'soap'), Detoxyboost technology and poreshrink R2". I use this product if I have worn alot of makeup either the night before, or earlier that day. I just massage it into my face and neck, and then soak a cotton wool pad in warm water to wipe off.
I received the Elizabeth Arden Exfoliating Cleanser; free, when I bought two other Elizabeth Arden skincare products, on I wasn't expecting much, seen as it was free, but I gave it a try anyway and i'm glad I did. I prefer to use it just to exfoliate my skin, rather than a cleanser. I use it about two times a week, on a Sunday and then again mid-week, just to get rid of any dead skin & grime. It leaves my skin really soft and nourished, it doesn't have much of a scent but that doesn't really bother me or put me off. I scrub this all over my face, using gentle circular motions, and then rinse it off using warm water.
I hope these reviews have been helpful, in some way, to people after new cleansers! I'd also love to hear of any cleansers, that you guys use and love. I'm currently waiting for my order from, that contains the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Cleansing Balm. So i'll do a review on that when I get it :)
Lots of Love

New Years Eve Beauty Picks.

Wednesday, January 02, 2013

New Years eve is that time of year, when too much, is never quite enough! Glittery eyes and bold lips are a essential part a New Year outfit. Getting ready is half the fun isn't it?! I love nothing more than getting ready for a night out, with music blasting out of my speakers. Even better if you're prancing around your room in your underwear, with a towel around your head, singing into a hairbrush at top note! Just me?? Yeah, didn't think so ;)

To start off, I give my face a really good cleanse with my holy grail item, my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish. This baby leaves my face feeling unbelievably soft and well prepped for my base. My skin also feels really fresh and hydrated after using this, which I think is key before applying my makeup.

Next, my base consists of MAC Face & Body Foundation, this foundation leaves my face with a really nice glow and it also provides great coverage. It blends really easily and a little goes a long way. I applied Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer; underneath my eyes and to any problem areas. I then apply my GlossyBox Blusher* to the apple of my cheeks, it gives a lovely subtle dusty pink colour. I did quite a bold eye and lip, so used my base and blush to tone it down. I highlighted my face using Topshop Highlighter, in Cresent Moon. This is definitely my favourite highlighter, it leaves a really healthy glow and shine (in the right places) to my face. I apply it to the top of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and across my temples.

For my eyes I used my Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette; using the colour half-baked on the lid, probably one of my favourite out of the whole palette! It is a lovely gold shimmer shade, which I thought was perfect for New Year :). I then used my Rimmel Scandel-Eyes Eyeliner; to do a cat-eye look.

I used Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner, for my lips. Aswel as a liner, I use this to colour in my lips before applying my lipstick, as it helps the lipstick to last longer. For my lipstick, I wanted to go for a bright red lip. I applied a coat of Yves Rocher Lipstick in Rouge*; which I recieved in one of my GlossyBoxes, and I love it! It is so moisturising and lasts all night.

For my nails I chose Rimmel 60 Seconds in Grey Matter; it is a lovely slate grey colour. I've been wearing it quite a lot recently, definitely a winter favourite. I applied a light coat of Topshop Glitter Nail Varnish in Pluto; a purple glitter nail varnish, onto my ring fingers, for that extra bit of something!
