Share the Love #2

Sunday, May 05, 2013

For my second 'Share the Love' post let me introduce you to the lovely Zoe Amelia. I've had the pleasure of meeting Zoe in person and she's just so nice and friendly! You can find her blog over at Amelia Allsorts.

My name is Zoe Amelia, I'm 25 years young, I'm an Office Manager and Blogger. My blog is Amelia's Allsorts.

When did you start blogging? I started blogging in December 2010 but really got more in to blogging in 2012.

Why did you start blogging? I started blogging after finding blogs online and being interested and inspired by them. I've always loved shopping, beauty products, nail polish and always have had a thing about photographing my purchases, so blogging seemed perfect for me! None of my friends share the same interests, they don't want to hear me raving about beauty and fashion, so it's nice to have somewhere to do this, and more!

What do you blog about? As my blog name says, I blog about allsorts :) Beauty, fashion, life, music, allsorts! A lot of nail polish.

What is the best thing about blogging? The best thing about blogging, is having an outlet to share my thoughts, findings, reviews and more. Getting to meet other bloggers, whether it be online and/or in person. I love meeting others who share the same interests and have met some great people through blogging. The blogging community is fantastic.

What do you find most difficult about blogging? The only real difficulty is keeping up with my blog, finding time to take photographs and write up blog posts, in between work and life in general.

What are you favourite blogs to read? Lily Melrose ( is one of my favourites and I love watching Zoe's ( YouTube videos. I have so many blogs that I love though, too many to list.

What are your favourite posts to read/write? Beauty posts are a favourite of mine, to both read and write. Blogs have really helped in finding out about products, finding out whether products are worth purchasing and seeing swatches. I know many people who don't actually blog, but have recently started reading blogs, to find out whether products are good before buying them.

3 holy grail items? Ooooh, this is tough! I guess my 3 holy grail products would be Batiste, nail polish and lipstick. I couldn't pick favourites though!

What is your guilty pleasure? Guilty pleasure? Well, Jack Daniel's and shots of Absinthe, maybe... (Though I'm not a big drinker, I drink less than once a month nowadays). Saving money for adventures is priority :)

Top 3 things on your bucket list? I have yet to create a bucket list, however, if I put 3 things together right now, I would say: To skydive, to travel and to live happy :)

The Morning After The Night Before.

Friday, May 03, 2013

We've all had them mornings, where we have woken up in the remains of last nights make up, eye liner smudged across our cheeks, alcohol & sometimes a cheeky takeaway breathe (don't lie, we've all been there!) and a mouth drier than the Sahara Desert, wondering "why didn't I make a pint of vimto when I came in at half 3 this morning" and remembering it's because you could barely find your key, let alone get your key in the tiny lock (why the hell do they make them so small, i'm sure they do it to punish us when we've had a drink!), or make it up the stairs in those ridiculous heels you insist on wearing.

You wake up feeling filthy, not physically, although i'm sure a good few of us have woken up with unexplained bruises or cut knees, which never hurt at the time oh no.. they decide to hurt as soon as you discover them the next day! Mentally, you feel minging. Your hair looks like a birds nest, your skin is dehydrated and your face looks like Madge's of Benidorm. Dry, dull and shriveled up.

What better excuse to give yourself a pamper than the hangover from hell?!

I prefer showers on a morning like this, to help wake me up and give me a little extra boost.

I start my giving my hair a bloody good clean with Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo, review here, and Aussie's 3 Minute Miracle deep conditioner. These are the perfect duo, leaving my hair feeling & looking really clean, soft and nourished.

I then give my body a serious clean, avoiding the grazed knees and elbows..
The Philosophy Tantalizing Tangerine shower gel is perfect for a hungover pick me up. Nothing wakes you up more than a lovely citrus smell.

I've never really owned any body oils before, thinking they would be too..oily? Yes obviously they are oily, but greasy and I decided to give this Lazy Evening Dry Body Oil Spray* a go after receiving it in my #Northmeetup goody bag, and I really like it. It leaves my skin feeling really soft and hydrated, which you need after a night of too many apple sours and jagerbombs.

I give my face a much needed deep clean with my Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, the crap that comes out onto my muslin cloths is..terrible. I follow this up with my favourite ever toner! Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic is amazing! Leaves my skin feeling and smelling so damn good.
Elizabeth Arden's Hydrating Boost Mask is exactly what your skin needs after a night out, leave this mask on for about 5-10 minutes and after removing it with cotton wool and tepid water. Giving your skin that EXTRA hydration.

I don't know about you lovely lot, but after a night out, my skin looks like crap. Spots are out in full force, which is never a pleasant thing. I give them a little clean with my Witch Blemish Stick* & Skinetica*, which both do wonders.

Just for a little treat I smother my hands in this Nourish hand cream*which smells amazing! It sinks into my hands really quickly, although leaving them thoroughly hydrated. It's not just my mouth that is dry, oh no, my lips look like hell too! I give them a little coating of my Burt's Bees lip balm* and there as smooth as a baby's bum! Does that saying make anyone else feel slightly inappropriate?? Just me, okay..

I hope this helped some of you that may currently be suffering through the worst hangover in existence. Although just think, the silver lining is, you'll be doing it all again in a matter of weeks.
Be safe & remember, that last shot or jaerbomb, is always a good idea ;)

April Favourites

Thursday, May 02, 2013

Holy Ba-Jesus, I can't believe it's May already! I know I say it every month, but where is this year going! Although I can officially say I turn 21 next month AND jet off to Mexico' Oh hell yeah! Next month is going to be a good'un!

I've found some right gems for my April favourites!

Models Own Eyelash Curler; I picked these up on a whim when they were on a 'buy one, get one half price' along with make up brushes at Boots. I picked up the Real Techniques Face Expert Brush (LOVE IT!) and I decided to pick the eyelash curlers and for £3, I couldn't really moan!
I've always had pretty decent eyelashes, quite a lot of them and quite thick, but these give them that extra lift and really wake my eyes up! When going for a more natural look i've been using these instead of mascara.

Burt's Bees Lip Balm*; I've lusted over the Burt's Bees lip balm for ages but never picked it up, so when I received this in my #Northmeetup goodie bag, I couldn't wait to give it a go. It is so nourishing and gives my lips a really nice shine to them. Perfect for a day when i'm wearing minimal make up, if any.

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle; I've been after a deep conditioner since picking up my much loved Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo, review here, I've used this conditioner before and loved it, but just never thought to pick it up. So when I saw it on offer at Morrisons, I knew I had to pick it up! I used it every Sunday in April with the Sunday Shampoo and together they leave my hair feeling amazing! The conditioner gives it that extra shine and softness. Love Love Love It!

BlanX White Shock Formula*; You can read my full review on this toothpaste here, It's not often I praise a toothpaste, I mean..come on, it's toothpaste! However, I friggin' love this! It has brightened my teeth and gives me minty fresh breath. What more could you want! The L.E.D light is an added bonus, hold this to your teeth a couple of times a week for a minute, and it is a mini brightening treatment.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Matte Lipstick; Shade 101: I've had this lipstick for a while now, but it got pushed to the back of my stash and forgotten about, as you do. Although whilst having a spring clean, I found it and my gosh am I glad I did. It's a matte powdery pink, nothing to in your face, but a lovely colour. It looks perfect with really minimal make up. Fresh dewy skin, blush and neutral eye. It's got Spring written all over it!
