YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch | Review

Thursday, August 22, 2013

I picked this product up on a complete whim from Duty Free in Mexico, on our way home. I'd read a few reviews on it before picking it up, but decided to give it a go and see what I thought.

The lady at the YSL counter sat me down and matched me up with the shade that best suited my skin tone. We both decided on shade 1, which is more pink toned, which suits my skincare perfectly. This is the lightest shade they do.

I quite like the clickable pen concept, although the first time you use it, you have to click it about 20+ plus times to get the product to the brush, but it explains this in the direction sheet inside the box.

It really helps to brighten my eyes, and gives a great coverage to dark circles. It doesn't cake and blends really easily, I tend to use a finger to do this.

I also apply this down the centre of my nose, and blend. It adds the perfect highlight, without looking too shiny.

The only downfall with this product, for me, is that you can't see when the product is running out. I can imagine it being a sad day when I go to use it, and there is nothing left inside.

I'm so glad I decided to give this product a go, and wouldn't hesitate to re-purchase it again.

Beauty & Haircare Haul

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

I have a addiction. A shopping addiction. I swear, I can't go into a shop without picking something up! Whether it be Boots or a bloomin' garden centre! I always walk out with something new.

Over the past few weeks, i've done a tiny little bit (who am I tryna kid?!), I did this shopping a few weeks, within one day. I got all the above purchases from Boots & Morrisons. Only a dedicated shop-o-holic, such as myself, could walk into a supermarket looking for something to eat, and instead walking out with a blusher, an eye shadow, a hair treatment...and nothing to eat!

I'll start wth Boots..

Bourjois had a 3-for-2 offer on across all their makeup, and as I had been lusting over the new Color Boost lip sticks it would have been rude not to take advantage. I picked up the shade 'Peach on the beach', as it has been raved about and is the perfect coral pink shade, great for my upcoming holiday to Rhodes (3 weeks and 2 days to go, woo hoo!!!). I've also heard great things about the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, so thought I would give it a go.. like I don't have enough foundations, but hey!
As they had a 3-for-2 offer, I decided to chose a nail varnish as my free item. I love that word, FREE.
It's a gorgeous neon blue shade, and in the 'So Laque' range, which I can imagine being similar to the Barry M Gelly Shine range.

I FINALLY got my hands on the, much raved and loved about, La Roche Posay Effeclar Duo! I've been using this for about 2 weeks now and it has completely changed my skin. Full review coming soon :)

One thing missing from my skincare routine was a eye cream, I wanted something to use in the morning that would sooth my eyes and reduce any under eye circles. This eye roller from the Botanics range was a bargainess £4.48.

Now onto Morrisons...

The V05 'Revive me daily' shampoo and conditioner was on offer for only '£1.95 each! I don't really have a holy grail shampoo/conditioner, I just buy what sounds good... I've used these a couple of times and my hair & I love them!

I picked up the Elvive Damage Care Conditioning Spray on a complete whim, I haven't heard anything about it, but i've been after a leave in conditioner, which won't weigh my hair down. My hair isn't dry from using too much heat, but because my hair is so thick ad curly, it can feel quite dry.

After hearing the lovely Anna, from Vivianna Does Makeup, rave about the Maybelline Colour 24 tattoo eye shadows, in the shade On & On Bronze, I knew I had to have it. I'm all for neutral eye shadows! I can't wait to give this a go, as either a base for eyeshadow or as an all over colour.

I probably have too many blushers. In fact.. I know I do.. :) I just coudn't resist this lovely pink/peach/coral shade from Collection 2000. Lavly for Summer.. or what is left of it.

I'm writing this blog post from my ipad, so i'm not 100% sure how it will turn out.. Fingers crossed!

Blog post of the Week: Whilst browsing BlogLovin' at daft o'clock this night/morning, depending how you look at it, I stumbled across this blog post, courtesy of Rebecca from Autumn Leaves, all about her festival beauty picks. I'm not actually attending a festival this year, boo, but a few of my friends are so I was able to show them this and give them some useful tips!

Product of the Week: Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer has been my most reached for product this week. I've been suffering from breakouts on my chin area, and this concealer is great for covering up any blemishes!

Skincare Wishlist #1

Saturday, August 17, 2013

I've been going abit skincare crazy the past few weeks! I enjoy switching up my products, to see which ones really help to make a difference to my skin.

REN Clear Calm Clay Cleanser: I don't actually own any clay cleansers, and after reading reviews on this REN one in particular, I definitely need to own it! It claims to combat the 3 key causes of breakouts and blemishes. For £18, you can't really go wrong!

Origins Gin-Zing Energy Boosting Moisturizer: I noticed this product a few weeks ago in Boots, but never thought anything of it. Until I got home and everyone suddenly seemed to be raving about it!I don't really have a go-to moisturiser so I can't wait to give this a go. Hopefully the yummy orange scent will help to give me a bit more of a boost in the morning!

Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque: I've lusted over this product ever since reading about it on Lily Pebbles blog, This is another clay mask which is designed to remove impurities and refresh the skin. I have this ready to purchase, in my CultBeauty basket..

Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm: Is a much raved about product, everyone and their dog has tried it! Except me... After hearing and reading so many great things about this product, it would be rude not to try it.

Burt's Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Cream: Whilst attending the #midsummermeet on Thursday, the lovely lady at the Burt's Bees table, asked if I wanted to try one of their hand creams. She put a small amount of the Almond Milk hand cream on the back of my hand, and after I had rubbed it in, she asked me to smell it... MY GOD, it was amazing! It smelt just like Cherry Bakewell, I can't wait to get my hands on this!!

Those are just some of the products I have been lusting over. I'd love to hear what's on your wishlist!

Hair Hero's.

Friday, August 16, 2013

Nothing makes me happier than having healthy, glossy, nourished hair and these are the products that just do it for me.

Lee Stafford Blow Dry Faster is just the best product ever! I have really thick, curly hair so it takes me aaaagggeessss (just to emphasise how long!) to dry my hair. I end up getting bored half way through and give up. I have absolutely no patience when it comes to drying my hair. This spray has cut down the time I spend drying my hair, dramatically! It also works as a heat defence.

Oh Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, how I love you. Teaming this with my Bumble & Bumble Sunday Shampoo, and it's a winning combination! Leaving my hair feeling, both, squeaky clean and unbelievably soft!

I received the Milk_shake Conditioning cream, in a glossy box, so I was very skeptical about it, not expecting much. Wow did I jump to conclusions! It smells exactly like whipped cream. I may not like whipped cream as a food.. but my hair loves it! It detangles my hair, and leaves it feeling really hydrated and soft.

Elvive Damage Care Conditioning hair spray is a new addition to my elite hair hero's. I apply this to damp hair and let it work it's magic. It doesn't weigh my hair down at all and leaves my hair hydrated and glossy.

Batiste Dry Shampoo is great for lazy hair days. Allowing you that extra 10 minutes in bed instead of hopping in the shower. Those 10 minutes are essential! A quick spray of this through my roots, and my hair is good to go. It also works well at giving your hair a bit of extra volume.

I'd love to hear what your hair hero's are!

Taking Cady & Aoife to feed the ducks, at a pub named Owd' Nells, in Preston. A lovely little pub on the side of the canal. The ducks were out in force!

Bedtime Essentials

Saturday, August 10, 2013

I don't know about any one else, but I really enjoy giving myself a little ol' pamper before bed. Removing the days yucky stuff from my face, slathering myself in moisturizer and scrubbing my lips within an inch of their life!

I start by cleansing my face with my all time favourite cleanser Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish. It leaves my skin feeling really soft and removes any traces of left over make up. I hope i'm not the only one, but I love looking at the muslin cloth after i've used it on my face and seeing all the yuck of today, on it. Knowing that my face is like brand spanking new!

The La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo is one of the most hyped about products ever! Okay, maybe not ever, but you get the picture. So recently I caved and just had to try out this much loved product. I really didn't want to like it and I don't. I frickin' love it! I've had a few spots on my chin recently, and they got quite angry and red. I applied this, for the first time, before bed and when I woke up in the morning, the spots weren't red at all and dramatically reduced in size! It has a firm slot in my bedtime essentials. Full review coming soon!

One thing that was lacking from my bedtime essentials was an eye cream. On a whim I picked up the Botanics All Bright Refreshing Eye Roll-On. It's really cooling on the eyes, leaving them really refreshed. I don't suffer from dark circles, but Aaron has used this, (he does get quite bad circles) and it worked wonders! I think I may have to buy him his own..

You're probably all sick of hearing about my love for Caudalie Beauty Elixir. I just love love love it. I give my face a quick spritz of this when I get in bed, and it just helps me to relax. To be honest, I think i'm just addicted to the smell :)

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub, is my favourite lip scrub around. Mainly because it tastes like bubblegum and who doesn't love that! It's great for removing any dry skin, leaving my lips baby smooth!

The Body Shop Pink Grapefruit Lip Butter is the perfect lip butter to use at night. It's really thick and creamy, leaving my lips looking and feeling really soft when I wake up in the morning. It smells good enough to eat! And although you'll be really tempted to eat this..don't. It won't go down well, literally!

Id love to know your guys bedtime essentials, any recommendations would be great :)

Summer Beauty Favourites

Friday, August 09, 2013

I thought i'd show you guys the products that I have been loving all throughout Summer! Britain has actually had a pretty decent summer for once, as soon as a bit of sun comes out, everyone gets excited! For those of you who don't know, us Brits have the worse weather and we very rarely get a decent Summer.

Firstly, slightly boring but a definite essential.. deodorant. Nobody wants to be rocking the summer look, but smelling like you've spent a week in an onion factory. NOT PLEASANT. I picked the Mitchum Advanced Control, on a complete whim. It's been ages since i've used a roll on deodorant, and I thought for a measly  £2, you can't really go wrong. Considering it was so cheap, I wasn't expecting great things, but I was pleasantly surprised! I applied this in a morning and smell fresh all day. I used it everyday in Mexico, and even in 35+ degrees, it never let me down.

The Max Factor CC Cream, has been my go to base during the summer months. It's really light and dewy, with a light-medium coverage. The thing I love about this product is it stays put even in the hot weather, and doesn't melt off your face.

Mark Hill Holiday Hair Sunset Smoother has been a complete hair saviour in the hot weather! It leaves my hair feeling really soft and well nourished. I specifically apply this to the ends of my hair, as they tend to get really dry in the summer months.

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream is one of best multi-use products around. It came in handy whilst I was on holiday, as I could use it as a moisturiser, lip balm and hand cream. A little of this product really goes a long way!

I can't rave about Caudalie Beauty Elixir enough! It smells amazing, and is really refreshing on the face. It's great when spritzed over make up, making your skin appear a lot more radiant.

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick | Shade 16 Orange Impertinent is just perfect for summer. The luxurious packaging and fruity scent is just a bonus, to the gorgeous true coral shade. Review found here.

I've been loving cream blushes this year, and the Topshop ones are a firm favourite. Especially Flush, which is a pinky/coral colour. The pigmentation of the Topshop cream blushes are great, and the colour can be built up, depending how much colour you would like.

I hope you guys enjoyed hearing about my essentials! I'd love to hear yours'

Pool/Beach Bag Essentials

Tuesday, August 06, 2013

I'm off to Rhodes in about 5 weeks, and thought it would be a good idea to show you the kind of things I carry around with me to the pool or beach.

I picked up a reasonably large, colourful beach bag from Matalan, last year. I don't really have a preference for beach bags, I just tend to pick up ones that I like, that are cheap as they tend to get wet by the pool, or covered in sand.

Firstly, I always take a cover up with me, i'm not the kind of girl that can walk around in her bikini all day. I tend to wear over sized vest tops. They're great for just throwing on over your bikini. I picked mine up from Primark, for about £4-£5, complete bargains.

I absolutely love my Primark, spotty bikini. I buy a new bikini every year and Primark never fail to bring out a few gems.

Sunglasses are from River Island, i'm not fussy about those either, I just buy what I like! I've had these ones for a few years, but they always have a wide selection to choose from. I'm a squinter so I don't take my sunglasses off all day.

I always take books or magazines with me, and The Fault In Our Stars, is my favourite book of all time. I'll definitely be taking this away with me. I carry my camera round for obvious reasons, although I tend to take pictures on my i-phone whilst by the pool.

I always take SPF with me, I start off on a high factor like 40, then gradually work my way down to a lower factor. I picked this Calypso one up from Matalan for about £4, and it works just as well, as the more expensive ones. Sun creams can be bloomin' expensive!

I don't tend to wear make up during the day, as to be honest, I really don't care what my skin looks like. I apply factor 40 suncream, and a quick spritz of my caudalie beauty elixir to freshen up throughout the day.
My lips tend to get dry and sore on holiday due to the change in temperature, so I always carry a lip balm with me, to help moisturise and hydrate my lips during the day.

I have quite thick curly hair, team this with the sun and my hair turns into frizz central. Picture Monica from Friends when they're in Barbados.. that's me! I apply a cream to the ends of my hair, for during the day, to keep them protected and as a hair mask at night, to keep moisture locked in.

I'd love to hear your pool/beach bag essentials!

YSL Rouge Volupte Lipstick | Review

Friday, August 02, 2013

I have been after a YSL lipstick, for quite some time now, although i've never been able to find a way to justify the price tag. So when Me & Aaron arrived at Duty Free before our holiday, It was the perfect reason to finally pick one up!

I had swatches all over my arms, trying to find the perfect one. Aaron had a little input into which lipstick he liked, and we finally agreed that we shared a lot of love for #16, a gorgeous true coral colour. I thought it would look perfect with a tan, which I was hoping I'd come back with after 2 weeks in Mexico..
Aaron, so nicely, decided to treat me to the lipstick, knowing how long I had been lusting over them. At Duty Free, the lipsticks are £20.80, which I still thought was a little steep, but since wearing it almost everyday on holiday, It was money well spent!!

Not only does the lipstick come in gorgeous, luxurious gold packaging, it also has a fruity scent, which just makes it even more gorgeous. The formula is so creamy, and glides onto your lips. It doesn't stick to any dry bits on your lips, keeping them feeling moisturised. It feels a little bit like lipgloss but without the tackiness or gloopiness. If that makes any sense... :)

I don't know if I would pay £24 for one of these beauties, but i'm definitely going to pick a new shade up when I go to Duty Free again in September. They are definitely worth the £20.80 that I paid.

I'd love to here which YSL Rouge Volupte shades you have been loving?

Monthly Favourites | July

Thursday, August 01, 2013

Wow, I can't believe it's July already! This year is going scarily fast.
I went to Mexico this month, so the products that I have been loving, are all products that I took on my holiday AND i'm still using now i'm home.

The Mark Hill Sunset Smoother was a complete saviour on my holiday! If I was wearing my hair down or in a plait during the day, I would run this all through the ends, just to protect my hair from drying out in the sun. I would also use it as a treatment, in the shower, every 2-3 days after I had used my shampoo and conditioner. It really helped to keep the moisture in my hair, leaving it really soft and smooth.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir has worked it's way back into my routine. It featured in my In-Flight Beauty Essentials post, found here. and really helped to keep my skin feeling fresh and moisturised. I also took this in my beach/pool bag, and whenever my face felt hot and clammy, a spritz of this and I was instantly refreshed. It smells amazing too, which is always a bonus in my eyes.

I picked up Max Factor CC Cream on a complete whim whilst shopping in Manchester, a lady who worked at the counter in Boots asked if I was interested in trying their newest product, me being me, couldn't say no. So I perched myself on one of those incredibly high stools, baring in mind I am only 5ft 2, so to me they are high, and let the lady work her magic! I was impressed straight away, it had great coverage and a lovely dewy finish. I've been wearing this every day during the summer, as it is a light base, but with medium coverage, perfect for the hot weather we've been having recently.

Viktor Rolf Flowerbomb La Vie en Rose  (2012 limited edition) just screams summer to me! I picked this up at the airport last year and it is my go to scent whenever the nice weather comes out. It's citrusy, floral and fresh all in one, which I just love this time of year.

I can't get enough of Red lipstick, so when I spotted the Bourjois Rouge Edition Lipstick in number 10, Rouge Buzz, it was love at first sight. It's the perfect neon red-orange, perfect for a night out. I wore this for my 21st birthday party and got so many compliments on my lipstick. The lasting power is amazing, I didn't need to re-apply it at all on my birthday night out, about 6-7 hours. One lady actually asked me if I'd re-applied my lipstick and when I told her I hadn't, she was amazed and wanted to know where I got it from. Always nice to hear.

I'm a bugger for not curling my eyelashes! My eyes always look much nicer when I do use them, but I always forget. So when I received the Vintage Cosmetic Company Eyelash Curlers* I couldn't wait to give them a go, and make a promise to remember to use them! They're amazing at really wakening your eye up and giving your eyelashes a really good curl and lift. For £5, a complete bargain!

What have you been loving this month?
