Burt's Bees Almond & Milk Hand Cream | Review

Sunday, September 29, 2013

I attended an event a couple of weeks ago in Manchester and at that event was a table set up dedicated to Burt's Bees. The only thing i've ever tried from the brand is a lip balm, which I love, but I thought this event was the perfect time to find out more from the brand and the products they had to offer.

I was given such useful information about all the different products and their ingredients. I love the fact, that the brands ingredients are almost all 100% natural, and something that definitely appeals to me.

I love the simplicity of the glass jar packaging, really simple, but also quite luxurious looking. It also looks super cute on my dressing/bedside table. Is it just me that notices these things??
The cream is quite thick, and a little product goes a long way, as it melts into your hands whilst you are blending. It smells exactly like almonds, you know bakewell? the cake? it smells EXACTLY like that. YUM.

The smell lingers on your hands for hours, I remember applying this one morning, and at some point during the afternoon, my mum wondered what hand cream I had on as, she could smell it! If that isn't a good hand cream, then I don't know what is.

The cream sinks in really quickly, and doesn't feel greasy at all. A few hand creams i've used can take an age to sink into my skin and I hate that, especially when it leaves a layer that just won't sink in!!
My hands are left feeling amazingly soft and smooth after using this product, and they feel soft all day, not just for a few hours.

I can't recommend this hand cream enough and it has become a everyday essential for me. I think this cream will be great during the colder months as my hands tend to get dry in-between my fingers.

REN Clear Calm Clay Cleanser | Review

Monday, September 23, 2013

Hello Lovelies'

So after a few stressful weeks of moving house for the first time and getting back from a lovely week in Rhodes, I am back in the swing of things! I have lots of reviews, routines and essentials coming up, so keep your eyes peeled.

Today I am bringing you a review on one of my favourite skincare products! REN CLEAR CALM CLAY CLEANSER. Wow that is one huge mouthful, I just love saying it!
I had been lusting over this cleanser for ages, but just never seemed to get round to picking it up, So when I received a voucher for 15% off lookfantastic.com, I instantly added it to my online basket!
At just £18.00 original price, for 150 ml of product, it is a complete bargain.

It definitely lives up to it's name and it is very evident of it's clay content. It even smells like clay! It is quite thick, and one pump does my whole face, so a little product, really goes a long way.

I use this every two days, to help give my skin a lovely deep clean. I leave it on for about 15-20 minutes as a face mask, then rinse it off with water.

I've been having trouble with my skin, on my chin area, with quite a few angry red spots. After using this cleanser, just once, I already noticed a difference. The spots seemed less red and sensitive. A winner in my eyes!!

My skin feels amazingly clean and soft every time I use it, Aaron even stroked my face one night and commented on how soft my skin was! You know it's true, if your other half notices.

I can't recommend this product enough, and will definitely be repurchasing again and again.

Dolce Amore Crepe Cafe.

Saturday, September 21, 2013

Whilst in Lindos, we stumbled across a lovely little cafe, making homemade crepes or waffles. Nom. Every Christmas when at the Manchester christmas markets, I indulge in a chocolate filled crepe..or two..
I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to enjoy some miniature chocolate covered waffles.. DROOL.

and by the way, they tasted just as good, of not better, as they look!

What better way to spend a gorgeous, sunny day in Rhodes, than a boat trip to the amazing village of Lindos?! Lindos is typical Greece; white wash buildings, cobbled streets and donkey rides!
We hopped on board a lovely little boat, and got to spend 3 hours in Lindos, before being picked back up and sailing along the gorgeous coast of Rhodes.. There was also time for a dip in the cool, clear blue sea, accompanied by white wine and some watermelon. Bliss.

Rhodes Town

Thursday, September 19, 2013

One sunny morning, we decided to catch the bus to Rhodes Town and spend the afternoon sightseeing, eating and shopping! Rhodes Old Town was by far one of the most picturesque places I have been, a lovely harbour, gorgeous cobbled streets and small trinket shops.

Rhodes New Town was home to shops such as Mango, Marks & Spencers and..wait for it, Sephora!!!!
Oh yeah, I finally popped my Sephora cherry, I only picked up a few things, as I am saving myself for when I go to Paris.

I'd love to hear if any of you guys have been to Rhodes and what you thought :)

When In Rhodes..

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

The view one morning, from my sun lounger. Take me back please?!!!

Gorgeous freshly made waffles, ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Me & Momma Blakey dabbled in Scuba Diving and loved it!

For those of you who don't know, I have to returned home, from a lovely week long holiday, in Rhodes.
After the stress of moving house, leaving my childhood home, a week of sun, sea and cocktails was just what I needed..
I went with Momma Blakey and my little brother.

We stayed at the lovely 5* star resort, Rhodes Holiday Village, in the town of Kolymbia. The hotel is exclusive to First Choice, and is the perfect environment for families or couples. There really was something for everyone. There isn't much going on outside of the hotel, but we caught the bus to Rhodes Town, which took about half an hour, and it was lovely. They also had a Sephora!!!!!
Another day, we caught the boat to Lindos, a gorgeous little village. I would definitely recommend this trip.
(separate posts on these soon!)

The hotel is amazing, it has lots of pools, bars, snack bars and a selection of A La Carte restaurants with a range of food, e.g. Mexican, Greek ect. There is one main buffet restaurant which has a lovely indoor seating area, or you can go through to the large terrace and eat outside (which we did everyday). At night, the terrace overlooks the evening entertainment, so you could enjoy your tea whilst listening to a Drifters tribute, (which we also did, and thoroughly enjoyed it!). There was an amazing selection of foods, suitable for everyone. Children had their own buffet table, which came fully kitted with plastic plates and cups, which made it all that more special. Although I don't have any children, i'm sure parents really appreciated this!

The staff are lovely and friendly, they couldn't do enough for you. The cocktails were amazing! I recommend a Rhodes Sunset.. Vodka, peach schnapps, orange juice and grenadine. Delicious!

I seriously can't recommend this hotel enough and considering we went in early/mid september, the weather was absolutely gorgeous! Ranging from 30-35 degrees, not a cloud in the sky :)

Firebox | Instagram Prints

Saturday, September 14, 2013

I am a complete Instagram addict.

I'm one of those instagramers that people love to hate, posting regular pictures of food, cocktails and shopping bags!

I also upload the occasional family, holiday pictures. Generally things that make me happy.

When me and Aaron decided we were moving house, I instantly took to Pinterest for home styling inspiration, and when I discovered all different pins, where people have created some sort of wall collage or board with all the Instagram pictures.. I knew I had to jump on the bandwagon. WOOP WOOP.

I hopped on google and typed in 'Instagram prints' ta-da!!! It was as easy as that ;) I found a website called Firebox.com, which sells all kinds of cool things! I-pad cases, DIY mugs and of course, a way to print your instagram pictures!

Priced at £9.99 for 12 prints, I thought they were quite reasonably priced compared to other websites I had looked at. Delivery was around £2-£3, I'm not 100% sure, definitely not expensive :)

Delivery said it could take up to 7 days for my order to arrive, I was hugely excited when it arrived after 4!! Packages excite me immensely...

When I calmly.. Okay maybe ripped open the envelope with the enthusiasm of a young child, I was surprised to see MY pictures on the small folder they came in.. I mean, how cool!! Little things also excite me a heck of a lot.

I love the retro style of these pictures, with the white rim, all around the outside of the photo. The small sharpie pen (you don't get to pick the colour you get, but I believe they come in either red or blue!) was also a added bonus, as it's a great way to label your pictures, in the space at the bottom of each photo.

I felt very emotional about moving out, feeling like I was leaving behind my childhood and losing that part of myself. I have since calmed down and realised I will never ever ever lose my childhood and that it will always be my home. I was so so sad to leave Momma Blakey, so I wanted to print off my instagram pictures of all my loved ones and special memories, to help make the transition easier :)

When my pictures are all labelled and have a home, I will show you guys via my instagram or on a little home tour?? If you're lucky!!!! ;)

Anyway, enough rambling.. I am currently in Rhodes waiting for the coach to pick us up, to take us to the airport :( as much as I am missing Aaron & our new little home, I really don't want to leave this lovely place! *blog posts coming soon*

Lotsa love :)

Blog Design | Peaches & Cream Designs

Thursday, September 12, 2013

I had been after a new blog design for a while, and whilst i'm not a complete failure at html codes, I could never achieve the look I wanted for my blog. So, I took to the lovely people on Twitter and asked for suggestions for a blog designer. I was recommended Peaches & Cream Designs from quite a few people and didn't hesitate to email her, and find out more details.

I received an email back within the hour, telling me to compile a design concept, colour theme, style and inspiration.

I knew already, what kind of concept I was going for. The design she came up with, couldn't of been more perfect! I absolutely love it.

Her services are amazing and so well priced! If I had an questions or concerns I didn't hesitate to contact her and i'd get a reply almost straight away. I love how she took the time to find out exactly what I wanted, and always double checked certain aspects of my blog, e.g. what kind of gold I wanted in my header.

I can't recommend Peaches & Cream Designs enough! If anyone is after having their blog designs, you'd be silly not to use her ;)

The Autumn Tag

Saturday, September 07, 2013

I stumbled across this tag on Makeup Pixie's blog and as i'm so excited for the season, I thought what better way to welcome it, to my blog, than a tag!

Favourite thing about Autumn? Snuggling up in a lovely scarf, walking through the streets looking at the gorgeous gold and red leaves that have fallen on the ground. Oooo exciting!

Favourite Drink? Costa Coffee's hot chocolate! I don't like tea or coffee, so hot chocolate is my go to drink!
Favourite Scent/Candle? Vanilla! In Summer I prefer citrusy scents, however Autumn is definitely all about Vanilla. I don't really like cinnamon or woodsy based scents.

Best Lipstick? Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop. A gorgeous pink/berry shade. Love the formula of the lip butters!

Go to Moisturizer? La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo! Leaves my skin feeling well moisturized and incredibly soft.

Colour for your eyes? A gold smokey eye or a berry coloured eye, MAC Cranberry & Sketch are the perfect Autumn eyeshadow combination.

Favourite Outfit? A lovely dress, thick tights, leather boots, leather jacket and a snuggly scarf!!!

Autumn Treat, e.g. new bag or lipstick you've had your eye on?  I definitely want to grab myself a tube of the Hydraluron. Perfect for adding hydration to your skin in the colder months. My skin will definitely need it!

Favourite place to be? Tucked up on the sofa, with my family, watching crap television, drinking hot chocolate. Bliss.

I'd love to see ALL you lovely bloggers taking part in this tag!

Home Decor. Inspiration | Pinterest

Myself & Aaron have finally taken our relationship to the next level and have moved in together!!
We plan to buy, but are testing the waters first, & renting for a few months. We've found a lovely apartment right around the corner from work and my mum. Ideal so I don't get too homesick. Gonna miss Momma Blakey, but it's something that you have to do at some point in your life and it just feels right.

Aaron and I have been together for almost 5 years, and we are super excited to live together!
We're just settling in and unpacking at the moment but I plan on doing a little home tour when we are sorted :)

I've been browsing pinterest looking for home decor inspiration for a few months now, to help get our home, exactly how we want it.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo | Review

Tuesday, September 03, 2013

My new holy grail item!!

I don't throw that term around loosely, so you know it's a good'un. I'd heard so many amazing things about the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo on the blogging/vlogging world. I couldn't resist giving it a go, and seeing what difference it made to my skin. I had high hopes for this..
& I wasn't disappointed!

I apply this morning and night after cleansing and before applying any make up. I use two pea sized blobs for my whole face.

After first use, it helped to reduce the spot size and also helped to get reduce the redness around the spots, that were really bothering me. Nothing worse than having a big angry spot on your face! This light gel-like formula helps to unclogs and purifies pores to help prevent further breakouts.

It leaves my skin feeling amazingly soft all day, and is also a great make up base. Just give it a few minutes to sink in before proceeding and it helps your make-up last that little bit longer.

For those of us who get the odd angry blemish, that is a absolute miracle product! I have quite an oily chin, which is were I tend to get most of my breakouts, and I haven't noticed any drying on my skin.

I will definitely be picking this up again, when I run out!
