Blogging 101 | Organisation

 




When I asked on Twitter, if anyone would like to see a blogging 'How To Be Organised' type post, the response was crazy! Everyone finds it hard to balance working, education, home/family life and blogging. It sometimes can feel like everything piles up, and certain aspects of your life start to suffer. I will first start by saying work (if you enjoy your job) and your education should ALWAYS come first and take priority over everything else. Don't risk great grades because you decided to stay up and blog about your favourite lipstick.. i'm sure we've all done it. I also make sure that my house and Aaron don't feel neglected, haha. Blogging is a hobby of mine and as much as I love it, other things in my life take priority. Now, having said that, it's only since i've moved into my own place that i've become a lot more organised with my life and with blogging. 

My top blogging organisations tips are:

  • Always, always, always have some sort of writing tool with you. Whether it be good old fashioned pen & paper, notes in your phone or ipad. Whichever is best for you, I tend to use both. You never know when inspiration for a post will hit you, it could be at work or on the train. 
  • Take photos in bulk! This is a tip i've only started using recently and it's the best thing to do. If you know what you want to blog about in the next couple of weeks/months, take all the photos in one go, to save you having to take photos every other day. I also edit my photos in bulk, as I find this a pain and want to get it over with. 
  • I write my blog posts in depth or note form with the key points, in a notebook. It's so easy just to flick through my notebook and you sometimes find ideas for posts that you had forgotten about!
  • Desk planners are also a great way to organise your posts. You can buy them, print free from the internet or like me, draw your own! Good old pen and paper works just as well. 
  • I use tweetdeck to schedule tweets, therefore if you have posts scheduled and don't always get chance to write about it on twitter, you can schedule a tweet ready. I think this is the best thing since sliced bread!!!! 
  • I tend to write as many posts at once as I can, scheduling them a couple of weeks in advance, which works a lot better for me. If you get busy one week and don't have chance to blog, you will have them written up ready and won't feel like a bad blogger, for not posting all week.
