Breakfast Baskets | Recipe #7

Thursday, January 30, 2014

Since the start of the new year i've been determined to eat healthy, and making better choices. Cutting down on fizzy pop (diet) and takeaways being the main culprits. I used to avoid breakfast like the plague, very rarely eating it, as I didn't have time or just couldn't be bothered. It got to the stage where I wasn't even hungry any more, until around dinner time. Since changing my eating habits, breakfast has slowly become on of my favourite meals of the day. I discovered these Breakfast Baskets via Nouvelle Daily but they are featured all over the internet. They are so simple and easy yet incredibly delicious.

  • 6 rashers of bacon.
  • 4 eggs.
  • oil
  • seasoning.

  • Start by greasing your muffin tray with a little oil, preheating your oven to 180 degrees.
  • Beat together the eggs.
  • Cut each rasher of bacon in half, and line the muffin tray with the bacon to form a basket.
  • Pour in the egg mixture about 3/4 full, as not to overflow the bacon, letting the eggs escape.
  • Season each one with salt and pepper. Put in the oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, until the eggs are golden and the bacon is cooked.
Told you, easy :)   They taste so damn good, they even got rave reviews off Aaron! Credit to Nouvelle Daily for this lovely recipe. It's become a firm favourite in our house.

Shower Time Essentials.

I love nothing more than a nosy in peoples baths or showers and finding out what products they use.
V05 Revive Me Daily is my current shampoo/conditioner, I don't really have a holy grail favourite of these, I just use whatever is on offer, or sounds like it will suit my hair. Since using these products my hair has been..revived. I honestly can't think of a better word. My hair is left feeling soft and bouncy. Shampoo Link | Conditioner Link |
I also like to use the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle as a treatment I use at least twice a week, it's amazing and leaves my hair feeling hydrated and healthy. link |
My go to shower gel at the minute is the Lush Snow Fairy, and I can't rave about this enough! I bought a big bottle over Christmas as I love it so much and it's still going strong. It smells like pear drops, which mmm makes the product all that more amazing. Long after i've finished my shower, when Aaron walks into the bathroom, he comments on how he can still smell it! My skin smells lovely after using this and so soft. Link |
I get quite dry skin, and this Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub is my favourite at the moment. It isn't too rough on the skin, but works amazingly at getting rid of any flaky or dry skin I have. It also smells incredible. Soap & Glory never fail, I have a whole collection of their products just waiting to be used. Link |

What's in your shower/bath? What's your favourite product?

Winter Sun | Fashion Picks.

Once Christmas & New Year are out of the way, i'm already thinking about Summer holidays! Get me to the airport, where beaches, sun and cocktails await..
In February my mum and I, are off to Tunisia for a girly week away, as much as I love living with Aaron..there's nothing quite like quality girls time, and what better way to enjoy it than by a pool with a strawberry daquiri in hand? I can taste it already. Tunisia is currently reaching 20 degrees, which is a long way from freezing cold, miserable England.

I don't know about anyone else but as soon as I book a holiday, I instantly go online and peruse the 'Holiday Shop' sections of websites. Asos & River Island i'm looking at you!
1. New Look Kelly Brook Black & Rose Print Bikini| Top:£16.99 Bottoms:£10.99 Every year I buy at least one new bikini, I have an addiction. This gorgeous patterned one from Kelly Brooks collection at New Look is right up my street.
2. Black all-in-one Topshop| £25.00 I've always shied away from jumpsuits as i'm quite short, and i've always thought they are much better suited to taller girls. However, I recently tried this one on, and fell in love. It fit me perfectly and made my legs appear a little longer, which is never a bad thing ;) I'd team this with some wedges or heels and a denim jacket for a comfy yet stylish evening look.
3. River Island Mid Wash Denim Distressed Hotpants| £25.00 I've actually JUST purchased these myself, so call my biased, but I love em'. I love the distressed denim on these, I always thinks it had that something extra. Teamed with a plain white vest top, statement necklace and a kimono? Yes please.
4. Bright Blue Havaianas| £22.00 I love the colour of these and that's pretty much the only reason I want these. I just love em'.

Are you going away this winter?

The Sunday Post | Going For The Chop.

Sunday, January 26, 2014

If you can't already tell by the pictures or the name of this post, i've had my hair cut! My hair was quite long, as in a good few inches past my bra, so for it to be cut so short, was a big change. Even the hairdresser was reluctant to chop it off.
My hair before was thick, curly and limp. I can't think of three better words to describe it. It was so heavy, took ages to dry and style it, probably an hour..if not longer!

I thought long and hard about getting a mid-length bob with a fringe, and i'm so glad I did, it's not too short that I can't put it up when I feel the need. It's quite blunt on the ends which is exactly what I wanted, when looking through magazines for inspiration, Lily Collins..i'm looking at you.
I'm determined to look after my hair more, and get it cut more often. I don't really use heat and don't suffer from terrible split ends, I just want to give my boff a bit more TLC.

If you are thinking of going to the hairdressers for a similar cut, I asked for a quite blunt cut, with layers and a fringe. I also looked for pictures online, to see what I liked, and took them with me.

Benefit Brow zings | Review

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

I think the Benefit Brow Zing has to be one of the most hyped about products ever! It wasn't until an event last year, when one of the lovely ladies at the Benefit counter used the product on me, and I got to see its full potential and what the hype is all about.

The kit contains a pigmented wax for shaping, a natural shaded powder for setting, small tweezers, hard angled brush, blending brush, a mirror and a small lesson of how to use the product.
You start by shaping your brows using the tweezers, if needs be. You then use the hard angled brush to apply the wax and the blending brush to apply the powder.

I picked up the shade 'Dark' which suits my eyebrows amazingly! My eyebrows are left amazingly defined and filled in. It's definitely the best product i've used so far. The kit creates a strong brow, which I love, with looking like overdrawn slugs!
At £23.50, it isn't going to be within everyones price range, which is why I chose to oh so sweetly ask Aaron for one for Christmas. This kit has completely changed my eyebrows, and I don't hesitate to use it everyday!

Have you used Brow Zings? What did you think?

Desk Organisation Inspiration.

Another neat desk idea. Love the lighting

Desk idea. Is that flooring on top?

TheEverygirl desk
*All images courtesy of pinterest.

One thing our house is missing is a desk. Mainly for me, somewhere to host my organised chaos. Somewhere for me to work on my blog, or play The Sims in peace.. yes I do still play AND love The Sims.

I'm planning a trip to Ikea with my mum and sister, which happens to be one of my favourite places ever. I never come away empty handed, carrying giant blue bags full of things I don't need, yet couldn't seem to leave behind!

I want my desk to be somewhere, clean and crisp, yet personal. I had some of my favourite Instagram pictures printed off a while back, so I want to maybe create a collage with those, maybe just above the desk or on a pin board. Choices, Choices..

Of course my main inspiration is to feel like Carrie Bradshaw.. I wish.

Currently Lusting Over #2..Tartan.

Monday, January 20, 2014

Tartan to me screams..Clueless. Who doesn't want to look like Cher Horowitz?! Tartan is everywhere this season, and I do have a few pieces..including the Tartan tube skirt featured above. I also have a dress and a scarf. I just love the print!

I always team tartan with quite a plain outfit, e.g. the pencil skirt with a black peplum top, or a white crop top..or the snood with a white tee, black jeans and my leather jacket.

For people who don't want to dive straight in with Tartan jeans or a dress, i'd definitely recommend incorporating small pieces into your wardrobe, a scarf or even a bag. Ease yourself in slowly haha!

Do you own any tartan? What's your favourite piece?

The Sunday Post | This Week's Most Loved..#1

Sunday, January 19, 2014

This week i've been loving new products and also rediscovering old ones. Either way, they are products that I have been using religiously throughout the week.

I've had my Ipad for a while now, since my 21st birthday in June, but just recently i've been obsessed with it. Using it for browsing through bloglovin, watching youtube videos and researching new recipes..I don't know what I did before I had one. It also hosts my Kindle, which I couldn't live without. I am a complete book nerd, I read everyday, without fail. Losing my ipad would be like losing my right AND left arm.

My latest fragrance is Jo Malone's Peony Blush & Suede, it's an absolutely stunning fragrance, one of my favourites yet. It's floral, yet not to girly and so fresh. I won't go into too much depth as I have a full raving review here.

Statement necklaces are my favourite thing to wear at the moment, teamed with a plain tee, or a collared shirt, I love them. This gold chain is my most recent addition from River Island and just adds that something extra to what could be just a simple, plain outfit.

My go to mascara at the minute is Benefit They're Real, so many bloggers and vloggers had raved about this product, and as soon as I got my hands on it at Duty Free last year, I could see what all the fuss was about! It lengthens and volumizes the lashes, without clumping. After using this mascara, I doubt i'll ever be able to go back to using another, it'd have to be really special!

With Christmas and New Year still taking effect, my skin has been looking a little lack lustre, dull and quite spotty, especially on my chin. If I ever get spots, they always seem to appear on my chin, without fail. Origins Super Spot Remover has been a godsend these past few weeks. It helps reduce redness and spot size overnight! It has a tightening effect, which I actually really like. To me, that means it's working and actually doing something to the skin.

What have you been trying lately?

Homemade Braising Steak | Recipe #6

Saturday, January 18, 2014

Oh god, it's made me hungry just looking at these pictures, mmmm. Braising Steak was a firm favourite when I lived at home, so since moving out 4 months ago I thought it was about time I had a go at making my own. Although it will never be as good as Momma Blakey's, it came pretty damn close.

  • Braising Steak, I used 2 reasonably sized steaks, one each for me and Aaron.
  • A large onion, peeled and chopped.
  • 1 clove of garlic, chopped.
  • 400g chopped tomatoes.
  • 400ml beef stock.

  • Start by frying the steaks, in a large frying pan, in a little oil, until they turn brown. Then transfer them into a casserole dish and put them to one side.
  • Then fry the onion and garlic in the leftover oil, until soft and slightly brown. Tip them over the steaks.
  • Mix the chopped tomatoes and stock together in the frying pan, and bring to the boil. When it's boiled tip it over the steak and onions, before covering the casserole with tin foil.
  • Place in the oven, heated to 200 degrees, and leave for 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.
I served the Braising Steak with roast potatoes, yorkshire puddings and peas, my version of a sunday roast, seen as i'm not quite there yet with my culinary talents, haha. This meal would also be amazing served with mashed potatoes and any veg.

What are your favourite meals recently? Any recipes that are a must try?! Let me know :)

Redken Wind Blown05 Dry Finishing Spray | Review

Friday, January 17, 2014

I never really got the whole wind swept look, it's only since starting blogging and watching youtube that i've thoroughly understood the concept of 'i'm going to make my hair look like it's been dragged through a hedge, and own it!'. My hair is quite thick and curly, which leaves it weighed down, lacking volume and bounce. I've tried a few volumizing sprays but they leave my hair either greasy or crispy. If that makes sense..

Since using the Redken Dry finishing Spray* i've fallen head over heels! It gives my hair a lovely amount of volume, without leaving the hair feeling dry. It also acts great as a hairspray. With finishing sprays i've used in the past, the lasting power isn't great. Giving the hair great volume at first, but soon wearing off and taking my hair back to it's usual lack lustre self. That definitely isn't the case with this bay boy. I went to a friends house on Saturday and after about 4 hours, one of the girls asked me what I had used on my hair to give it so much volume, and when I looked in the mirror, it hadn't dropped at all from when I first sprayed it on my hair. It leaves my hair naturally tousled and with a soft matte finish.

I just flip my hair upside down, and spray all over, before shaking the hair out. At just £11.10 via lookfantastic, it is a complete bargain and honestly worth every penny. I have already ordered another one, ready for the day when my current one runs out. Organised or obsessed? I'm not sure...

What are your tousled, volumizing hair heroes? I'd love to know.

Benefit Hydra-Smooth Lip Colour | Review

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Here is a picture of me wearing Fling Thing, on Christmas day. It isn't very clear, but with just one application you get a lovely colour!

I was lucky enough to receive this lovely Benefit lip product from my mum for Christmas. I've seen them on the Benefit counters and around the blogging world, but never got around to picking one up. My mum picked the perfect shade for me 'Fling Thing' a lovely pink/berry colour. If you've been reading my blog for a while you will know how much I love my berry shades.

The outer packaging is a retro cardboard tube, which I actually like, and although the packaging of the actual lip product reminds me of something my 5 year old niece would own, I love it. The product is pushed up and retracted by twisting the base.
The Hydra-Smooth Lip Colours are enriched with Shea, Mango Butter & Vitamin E, perfect for leaving lips soft and hydrated. The double slanted tip is used to define and fill your lips, i've found the best way to use the tip is to follow my lip line, and then fill my lips a highlighter pen!

This particular shade from the range has a medium-full coverage, which is easily built up with a double application, leaving it very pigmented and a lovely gloss finish. With it having a medium to full coverage the colour lasts a good few hours without needing to reapply every couple of hours, which is something I definitely look for in a lip product.

At £15, I think they are quite expensive, but should definitely be added to your Birthday or Christmas (planning ahead!) gift lists or even just a treat to yourself!!

Homemade Italian Chicken & Tomato Soup | Recipe #5

Friday, January 10, 2014

I'm a complete soup fanatic, and since moving out and having a little more freedom to try & test new things in the kitchen, they have become a regular addition in our home.

  • 2 grilled chicken breasts, cut into strips.
  • 4 rashers of bacon, all visible fat removed and finely chopped.
  • 1 large onion, peeled and finely chopped.
  • 2 carrots, peeled and grated.
  • 600g chopped tomatoes.
  • 400ml chicken stock.
  • Salt and pepper for seasoning.
  • sprinkling of chilli flakes (optional).

  • Start by grilling your chicken breasts, then whilst they are cooking chop and dice all your veg and bacon.
  • Then place the onion, carrots and bacon in a large non-stick saucepan and stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the chicken, stock and chopped tomatoes and chilli flakes. Bring to the boil, stir, then cover and simmer on a medium heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season to taste and serve.
This has to be one of the easiest soup recipes i've made yet and it tastes so delicious. The chilli adds that little kick that I really like in my food. It also went down very well with my better half which is a bonus. It's also been a great winter warmer, these past couple of months have been so cold and there's nothing better than a good soup.

Any soup recipes that are a must try? Let me know.

Primark Dress.
Topman Tartan Scarf.

Another Outfit Of The Day?! Wow, you lucky things. You get to experience my horrific poses, and my extreme that even a word?? It is now.
I was determined that 2014 would be the year where I branch into outfit posts, no matter how uncomfortable they make me feel..i'm sure i'll feel more confident soon. Aaron doesn't help by shouting out posing ideas, thinking he's a professional photographer, making me laugh mid-series pose.

On Sunday myself, my mum, Aaron and my younger brother all went for a Sunday lunch as a lovely village pub. I wore my trust grey t-shirt style dress from Primark with a skinny belt, my trust leather jacket from Miss Selfridge and my new favourite item my tartan scarf from Topman.

I am currently living in these over the knee socks from Primark, they go great with dresses or skirts. I feel like Cher out of Clueless. Which is always a good thing! 'AS IF' that film.
My go to shoes are these Chelsea boots from Topshop, I love love love them. They go with anything and everything. For Christmas I received the Zara Mini City Office bag and this dark grey bowler hat from River Island. I'd been lusting after both of these for AGES, so I was extremely happy to see them waiting under my Christmas tree.

I hope you guys like seeing these posts, i'd love to know what you think..

What's In My Bag..

Wednesday, January 08, 2014

It's been a while since i've given you guys a nosy into my bag, and since I received this lovely bag from Zara, for Christmas of Aaron, I thought it was about time I wrote one up.

I am in love with my bag, the Zara Mini City Office bag, i'd wanted it for ages so when Aaron asked me what I wanted for Christmas, this bag went straight on my list. I opted for the navy blue colour, as I don't own anything similar. I originally wanted the black version, but I have so many black bags, I wanted something a little different. The bag is split into 3 sections, the middle section fastening with a zip, is padded which is the perfect size for my ipad mini, keeping it well protected. You can carry the bag using the small handles, or it also comes with a larger strap which you can attach to the bag for wearing over your shoulder, which is how I wear it.

I never leave the house with my Ipad, a magazine and my notebook. Ipad for my kindle, a magazine for catching up on the latest beauty/fashion goings on and a notebook for blogging inspiration.

The beauty additions to my bag are my current favourite perfume, lipsticks and lip balm. At the moment these are Jo Malone Peony Blush & Suede, YSL Rouge Pur Couture in Fuchsia Pink and Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie. During the winter months I always carry a lip balm with me, my favourite being Nuxe Reve De Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm.

I always carry my purse, for obvious regular visits to Boots...and I also had some PC World/Curry's vouchers (exciting) as me and Aaron were purchasing a hoover, and if you buy gift cards at Morrisons, you receive money of petrol. Exciting fact for you there!

I'd love to know what you think :)

Nuxe Reve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm | Review

Monday, January 06, 2014

Another cult favourite? Oh yes. I picked this up when in Paris after hearing so many bloggers and vloggers raving about it. Claiming to be a saviour for dry and chapped lips, it was truly put to the test this winter, as my lips have been really sore. I have this at hand on my bedside table, and I love nothing more than applying a layer before I go to sleep and as soon as I wake up in a morning.

It has quite a waxy texture but applies to the lips smoothly. It doesn't leave any shine or tackiness behind which I really like it a lip balm. It leaves my lips feel super soft and nourished, which is just what my lips have needed the past couple of months. I absolutely love the slight lemon scent, i'm a sucker for citrusy smells. I also love the glass packaging, I don't know why, it just makes the product even more luxurious. I've used this almost everyday for the past couple of months and i've hardly made a dent in the product, a little goes a long way.

This has been my go-to lip balm all throughout winter, and has literally been a saviour for my lips.

Blogging 101 | Post Inspiration

Sunday, January 05, 2014

We all get to the point in blogging, where we hit 'bloggers block'..we have no inspiration or motivation for anything regarding blogging. Taking pictures, editing and writing posts is the last thing you feel like doing.

I've hit bloggers block, once majorly since starting blogging almost 2 years ago and I thought i'd give you some tips on how I overcame the block and got back into the swing of things.

Firstly, look back at previous posts, ones that went down well with your readers, that way you know your readers are going to enjoy a similar post. Also read other peoples blogs, take inspiration from their posts that have been popular.

Twitter chats are also a great way to get some inspiration, interact with your followers/readers and ASK what they would like to see on your blog, or what they have enjoyed seeing previously. You could even ask them what posts they will be writing in the future, don't copy, just take notes. Bloggers are happy to help about fellow bloggers with writing block, we've all been there.

I really hope this post helps some of you and gives you a little boost on the blogging front if you're lacking any kind of motivation. That being said, don't force yourself to write, you'll take the enjoyment out of it and begin to resent it. Blogging is suppose to be fun and something for you to enjoy. Don't make it a chore. Sit back, take a break and before you know it the block will have disappeared and you'll have blog posts coming out your ears!

Currently Lusting Over..#1 | Cult Beauty

Friday, January 03, 2014

For those of you who don't know, Cult Beauty is an online beauty/skincare lovers version of heaven. A panel of experts make sure that only the best of the best are featured on this website. Products that have made the cut are the ones that do exactly what they say on the tin and exceeds expectations. Here are some products that I am currently lusting over...and adding to my online basket as we speak ;)

Aesop Parsley Seed Facial Cleansing Oil- This facial oil has been on my 'lust list' for quite some time now, and it's about time I added it to my online shopping bag.. It claims to melt even waterproof makeup, removing any dirt and grime without aggravating the skin. It's so gentle, it's perfect for those with super sensitive skin. The fact that is leaves skin feeling refreshed and supple is what makes it a winner for me. £39.00//200ml

Therapie Restore Aura Spray- I don't know about you guys, but the New Year has left my skin, not going to beat around the bush here, feeling like absolute crap. It feels dull and exhausted. When I spotted this spray whilst window shopping on Cult Beauty, it sounds like the perfect product. The aromatherapeutic spritz refreshes your skin when tired or overworked, which over the Christmas festivities, i'm sure we all are.. It includes essential oils and instantly cleanses the skin. £25.00//100ml

Anne Semonin Express Radiance Eye Cubes- The Christmas parties and late nights have left my skin feeling tired and dreary, especially my eyes. Lack of sleep has left them puffy and knackered looking. These eye cubes from Anne Semonin sound just what my poor eyes need. They work similar to putting cucumber on your eyes, soothing and refreshing tired eyes. You store them in the freezer and the cold temperature eliminates toxins that cause dark circles, which i'm sure we're all rocking at this time of year. £43.00//6x4ml

Elemis Body Brush- I've been after a body brush for ages and this one from Elemis sounds perfect. Body brushes are perfect for enhancing your skins texture and tone, removing dead skin cell build up with regular use. They also help to prevent ingrown hairs and disperse cellulite. Another bonus is that it helps moisturiser and creams absorb more effectively. £20.00

Therapie Himalayan Detox Salts- Clearly i'm loving Therapie products.. I blame Anna for my obsession with purchasing these bath salts! They help calm and balance energy flow whilst also combating insomnia! I think I may buy my mum some of these for her birthday as she is a terrible sleeper, and the smallest sound wakes her up..I have a feeling these may help. £35.00//400g.

Are you a fan of the Cult Beauty website? Any products you're currently lusting over?

New Years Eve OOTN |

Dress So In Fashion. Bag River Island. Bracelet Thomas Sabo.

I'm starting the year as I mean to go on, and that is with an outfit post! I know I probably look horrifically awkward, but god loves a trier. I've never posted one of these before, and i'm determined to slot a few in throughout 2014, something completely out of my comfort zone but something i've always wanted to dabble in.

I love this dress, the way it is simple at the front, with a dipped hem and halterneck but the back is what made me decide to buy the dress in the first place. I love the cut out detail and thought it gave the dress that extra bit of wow factor, that is required on New Years Eve.

I decided to keep my hair up, curling it and pinning it to the side. Aaron said it looked very sophisticated and 1920's esque..when your boyfriend relates your hairstyle to your favourite period, you take note, it doesn't happen very often. I also thought that pinning my hair up would stop the horrific 'i've been dancing all night and now my sweaty hagrid style hair is pissing me off'. Which it did!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post, and if you'd be interested in seeing any more? Please be nice ;)

Happy New Year guys! I hope you all had an amazing night, whether it was out partying hard or enjoying a cosy night in! I went to the local pub with my Mum, Dad, Aaron and some of the girls from work, and it was great! We danced the night away, enjoyed a few shots and took far too many photos.

I absolutely loved 2013, there were so many incredible highlights... Scotland, turning 21, my party, Mexico, moving in with Aaron, watching Wicked, Rhodes, York and spending quality time with my friends and family. I've honestly had the best year of my life.

I have so many things planned for 2014; holidays booked, days out planned and lots of blogging ideas.

For my blog, I hope to get back into my routine of blogging at least 4 times a week, usually on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. I also want to step out of my comfort zone, maybe some outfit posts and DIY type posts.. watch this space ;)

I'd love to know what you have planned for your blog in the up and coming year?
