Current Hair Care Treatments | Dry Hair.

Sunday, July 10, 2016

I've tried so many hair products, serums and treatments over the years. Some i've loved, some...not so much. I am happy that FINALLY at the age of 24 I have found three products that my hair agrees with and really benefits from.
Now for a little hair hair has never been dyed or coloured of any kind, it is very thick and naturally curly. When I was little it used to be in really tight ringlets, but obviously as I have gotten older, they've dropped out but if I let my hair dry naturally it instantly curls. It is also quite dry, more towards the ends of my hair, about three quarters of the way down. I use a nourishing shampoo and conditioner but my hair needs a little extra to really benefit.

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum: I've used this product on and off since I was about thirteen and i've always gone back to it. I apply a small 20 pence piece sized amount to towel-dried hair and brush it through my hair, starting about a third of the way down, with my tangle teezer. My hair can go quite frizzy if I let it dry naturally, and this serum helps keep it at bay, it leaves my hair feeling really soft and sleek.

Goldwell Dualsenses Rich Repair 6 Effects Serum*: This product is a multi-use serum especially for dry and stressed hair. The hair serum is enriched with pashmina silk proteins that help provide shine and softness for damaged hair. Since using this for the past 3-4 months i've noticed a huge difference in my hair, it's a lot more manageable and also provides my hair with a little more bounce to it, which i'm a huge fan of. Although my hair is curly, it doesn't have a lot of life to it, I think the curls weigh my hair down so it can look a little lack-lustre. However, this serum gives my curls a little more definition and softness to them. I apply two pumps of this to my hair but rather than brushing it through, I scrunch it into my hair.

Phyto 7 Hydrating Day Cream With 7 Plants* As you can guess from the name of this product, the Phyto cream is infused with seven pure and natural plant extracts. It is a leave in conditioner that quickly absorbs into the hair fibres, preventing split ends, frizz and static. I use this mainly on dry hair, focusing on the ends. I really enjoy using this product if i've used curlers on my hair, I run it through the curls and it really helps give them definition and get rid of any frizz that may have appeared due to the heat of the curlers.

I'd love your recommendations for other products for dry or damaged hair! What is your favourite hair product at the minute?

Travelling With A Carry-On | Tips & Tricks.

Wednesday, July 06, 2016

On Saturday I am jetting off for my first girly holiday, to Morocco for a hen do! I am so excited and the weather is supposed to be AMAZING whilst we are there. I can't wait to have a relaxing long-weekend in the sun. It is very much needed.

One thing I have really been struggling with is packing my case! To keep costs down we have opted to just take hand luggage and at the time that was all well and good, however as it gets nearer to the time i'm panicking slightly. When it comes to holidays I am a slight overpacker, 'it might come in useful, oh I might wear that, just incase..' is how I pack the majority of my suitcase. That can't be the case when it comes to packing with just the carry on luggage allowance. I've browsed the internet and found some tips & tricks on how to make the most of a small allowance..

10 Things Women Wish Men Knew.

Tuesday, July 05, 2016

1. When we ask how we look, 'fine' isn't good enough. we want a full detailed account of how fucking fabulous we look.

2. Saying 'I Love You' before, during or after sex does NOT count. Boy you just wanna get laid, or you have just been. Either way, nah mate.

3. You mess up, we seem fine with it, totally cool. We actually aren't and our plotting your ultimate demise.

4. For the love of god if we hear 'I nearly bought you some flowers today..' one more time, we will not be held accountable for our actions.

5. Sometimes we just don't want to have sex. Shocking I know. Don't read too much into it, it's irritating. It has nothing to do with you, or our feelings for you. We just can't be arsed.

6. Respect us. Some men are bastards and don't appreciate the woman in their life. Don't be that guy. Show her how much you love her.

7. Cooking for us once in awhile won't ruin your street cred. We'd actually really appreciate it. Even if it is a frozen pizza, it's the thought.

8. Never forget a birthday or anniversary. It really isn't worth the shit storm you would endure.

9. Listen and at least pretend to care. When i'm telling you that Sarah from marketing is a bitch and whine about how much i've eaten that day..roll with it.

10. Love us. For god sake, a cuddle and a kiss is all we really want. Not all the time, cos my psychotic side will come out and wonder what the hell you've done, but every once in awhile. We love a good snuggle.

Five Favourites.

Favourite Thing I've Watched: Outlander Outlander Outlander! I'm so sad that the end of series 2 is almost upon us. For those of you don't know Outlander is based on the historic, time-travel Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon. The first series starts off with Claire, a married World War II nurse in 1945, finds herself transported back to Scotland in 1743. She meets the amazingly gorgeous highland warrior Jamie Fraser and it goes from there... It has just been signed up for a third AND fourth series so you really should check it out. It's currently exclusive to Amazon Prime, or you can find it online.

Favourite Thing I've Listened To: For my 24th birthday, which was on 12th June FYI, Aaron got me a Crosley Cruiser record player that I have been eyeing up for AGES, in this amazing turquoise colour. My brother also got me two records, Taylor Swift's 1989 and Adele's 25. I've loved listening to them both, in particularly Adele. She is just..incredible. I am completely girl crushing on her at the moment.

Favourite Thing I've Done: Again, for my birthday, Aaron bought us tickets to go and watch Chitty The Musical in Sheffield! I had been really looking forward to the show, especially once I found out that Carrie Hope Fletcher was going to be taking over the role of Truly Scrumptious! I'm a huge fan of Carrie so I was really excited that I would FINALLY be able to watch her perform live and she didn't let me down! The whole show was amazing. It is about an hour and forty minutes from Manchester to Sheffield and the whole way down we listened to the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtrack, Aaron acted like he didn't want to but that didn't stop him from joining in. We stayed overnight in Sheffield and it was just lovely to have a break from home. The tour is ongoing until the 4th January, travelling all over the country. You can find tickets here.

Favourite Book I've Read: If you haven't heard of A Court Of Mist & Fury (ACOMAF) then where the hell have you been?! it is the sequel to A Court of Thorns & Roses (ACOTAR) by Sarah.J.Maas who also writes the Throne Of Glass series. ACOTAR is a blending of Beauty & The Beast with magical faerie lore. The series is absolutely incredible, and as much as I loved the first book in the series. NOTHING could prepare me for my love for ACOMAF. If you have read the book you will understand, holy shitters. It's just..beyond words. Please give this series a go! The third book is due to be released at the beginning of May next year, it saddens me that I have to wait that long.

Favourite Person: My best friend Lindsay. She is just..I love her! We completely understand each other and she can make me laugh until I cry. We take the piss out ourselves and each other and we love each other at the end of it. We can know what the other person is thinking with just one look. I'm going away with her THIS weekend (woohoo) for a long weekend and I can't bloody wait. 4 days of laughter, cocktails and sunshine. Lindsay, you won't be reading this but just so you know, you're fucking awesome.

Things They Don't Tell You When You Move Out For The First Time.

Saturday, July 02, 2016

I moved out of my family home almost three years ago and whilst it is the best thing i've ever done, it's also one of the hardest. I'm lucky that I got to move in with Aaron and share responsibilities, housework and bills.

One thing that really annoys me today about education is they don't teach you any basic LIFE skills. Maths, english and science is all well & good, but what about all the other things you need to know when going into adulthood, e.g. how to apply for a mortgage, ways to help you save money for bills and utilities. I thought i'd give you an insight into the things they DON'T tell you when you are moving out for the first time.

Pre-Holiday Prep.

Friday, July 01, 2016

Next Saturday I am jetting off for a sun, cocktail and food-filled four day break for a hen do! I am so excited. It will be my first holiday of the year and is very much needed. About two weeks before I go on holiday, I take extra care in preparing my body for sunnier climates. Not just with what I eat and drink (plenty of water to keep my body hydrated) leading up to the holiday, but in the products I use on my skin and changing up my routines slightly. Here's how I get my body beach ready...

Exfoliate Regularly: I usually shower about four times a week, and instead of my once weekly exfoliation, I bump it up to maybe three times a week. Exfoliating not only gets rid of dead skin cells to reveal gorgeous fresh skin, it also helps you achieve a smoother looking tan that lasts longer. My favourite body scrub is Soap & Glory's Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub, it contains organic cupuacu bio scrubs, bananas, almond and honey extracts. You just scoop out a handful of scrub, rub it between your hands, then rub in circular motions over damp skin. I also sometimes use exfoliating gloves to get a really smooth finish. The scrub smells absolutely delicious, as all Soap & Glory products do.

Moisturise: After going at your body with exfoliators and razors, it's important to calm your skin down and give it some TLC. I am currently using Soap & Glory's The Righteous Butter, as it is really thick and leaves my skin feeling amazingly soft. I apply this to slightly damp skin and wait for it to sink fully into my skin, which takes no time at all. It smells fruity and floral and just..YUM.

Face Mask: About three times a week, I will apply a face mask before I get into the shower, I tend to opt for ones that will smooth my skin, whilst drawing out any impurities. The Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Thermal Detox Mask has been a favourite of mine since last year, it is infused with a fresh-blend of essential oils and natural ingredients. It also contains myrrh essential oils that soothe and calm the skin, the mask helps to remove the excess oil to leave skin feeling purified, cleansed and silky soft. It doesn't smell the greatest, think plasticine! However it works wonders for the skin, so we can ignore the smell. I apply a little product to my fingers, a little goes a long way, and mix with a tiny amount of water to help apply it evenly to my face. It heats up instantly on contact and I leave it on for five or ten minutes whilst in the shower and then use a warm cloth to wipe the mask off.

Hair Care: My hair is really thick and curly so it always quite dry. Add heat and humidity to that and BAM! We have a Monica from FRIENDS situation going on. About three times a week I will use my beloved Neal's Yard Organic Virgin Coconut Oil. I apply this to my hair before washing, focusing on the ends. I sometimes apply it as a full hair mask, leaving it on for maybe an hour or so. Coconut oil is an amazing effective conditioning treatment that soothes dry hair and scalps, whilst adding lustre to dull hair.

Luscious Lips: If you look on my bedside table, dressing table and in my handbag you will find about forty lip balms! I apply a generous helping on lip balm in the morning and again at night. Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Intensive Lip Repair Balm* is the product that i'm reaching for the most at the minute. it is so lovely and leaves my lips feeling amazing. To give my lips a little zshoosh, I have also been using a lip scrub on my lips about three times a week. I usually use Lush's Bubblegum Lip Scrub, however I have ran out and we no longer have a Lush in my town...I don't know what the hell all that is about but hey! I have been using the next best thing that is Kiss Cosmetics Scrub Stick which is just as good, just not as yummy. I apply a little bit of this to my lips, and then use my fingers to rub it in.

I'm so excited to have a little break from reality for a few days and what better excuse for a good pamper.

I'd love to know which products you like to use before you go on holiday, or just in general!? What are you favourite products at the minute?
